Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows (2016)

A Little Background: Yes… sometimes my former twelve-year-old self chooses what movie to watch. To be honest, my motivation for going to see this was to distract myself from a certain local sports team. A certain local sports team that just won a certain championship after digging themselves out of a hole in historic fashion. But this isn’t a sports blog.

The Film: We can call this what it is, a movie about anthropomorphic turtles who fight a rhino and a warthog. That’s what I expected, that’s what I got and I enjoyed it. There really wasn’t much of a plot and what there was seemed rather reminiscent of a Marvel or Star Wars story line. Somehow Will Arnett’s acting stood out. I guess that can happen when you share the screen with Megan Fox, Tyler Perry, and Stephen Amell. Seriously, just an awful cast. The CGI was exceptional however and the nostalgic buoyancy was so thick that it made you forget to mind silly things like bad acting and nonexistent plots. It was definitely better than the first reboot, probably because Michael Bay wasn’t at the helm this time.

Three Favorite Things: Casey Jones, Bebop, and Rocksteady (the characters, not the actors’ portrayals)
